PMHH to Celebrate Hospital and Home Week

Perham Memorial Hospital and Home (PMHH) is celebrating National Hospital and Nursing Home week May 10-16, 2009. This year’s theme is A Healthy Community in Changing Times, which highlights PMHH’s commitment to keeping our community healthy.

“The compassionate and dedicated employees and physicians are the key to our success,” says Chuck Hofius, CEO.  “During the recent flood, a patient needed to be transferred to the Twin Cities. I received a call from a University of Minnesota cardiologist who treated the patient there, to tell me how impressed he was with the skills of our staff and physicians and the care the patient received while in our care. National Hospital and Home Week is a time to stop and thank these amazing individuals.”

Perham Memorial Hospital and Home was founded in 1902. Together with MeritCare clinic, employs more than 430 people in our area. Plans are underway for a new hospital and clinic to be built along highway 10 and is specifically designed to include patients and families as an integral part of the health care team. Groundbreaking is scheduled for this fall.

National Hospital and Home Week began in 1921 and over the decades, has helped revolutionize the public view of hospitals and nursing homes.  The health care industry employs more than 14 million workers throughout the United States.
