Dr. Pankonin receives certification for Pedorthy

Perham, Minn. Dr. Vincent Pankonin, chiropractor at Perham Memorial Hospital has earned the designation of “Certified Pedorthist”.

Dr. Pankonin completed all educational requirements including the National Board examination through the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics (ABC).

As an ABC Certified Pedorthist (C.Ped.), Dr. Pankonin is specifically trained to manage comprehensive pedorthic care. This would include evaluation of foot and ankle conditions, formulation and implementation of appropriate treatment plans to correct or accommodate foot and ankle conditions. These conditions include plantar fasciitis, fallen arches, pronation or supination of the foot, congenital foot deformities, diabetic neuropathy or diabetic peripheral blood flow issues, heel pain, arch pain, and pain in the forefoot and toes, etc.

Treatment for these conditions would include prefabricated orthotics, custom made functional orthotics, custom orthotics for diabetes, shoes for diabetics, correctly fitted shoes, shoe modifications, etc. Many of these treatment options may be covered under your insurance plan including diabetic shoes and diabetic orthotics. In some cases you will need a prescription from your medical doctor or podiatrist for insurance to cover orthotic devices. Dr. Pankonin will work closely with your medical doctor or podiatrist to ensure that you receive the care you need.
