Horter joins Perham Health as registered dietitian
Perham Health is pleased to welcome Gwen Horter, registered dietitian, to its team of medical professionals. While Perham Health has contracted a dietitian for many years, hiring a full-time professional has allowed for a greater variety of services to be available to patients. Horter started her position at Perham Health when it moved to its new location.
A registered dietitian works with an array of people with a range of health conditions, including preventing and managing diabetes, weight loss, and reducing risk factors for preventing serious illnesses like cancer. Already, Horter has provided new services by hosting classes with cardiopulmonary rehabilitation patients and plans to offer additional education in the future, including pre-diabetes classes and nutritional counseling at the grocery store, teaching students how to shop healthy. Horter takes pride in helping patients manage their eating habits in a way that fits their lifestyle and creates the healthiest outcomes possible.
Horter, a Grafton, North Dakota, native and mother of two, has been a dietitian for 17 years and is currently training to become a certified diabetes educator. She plays an important role throughout Perham Health by meeting with patients at its clinics in New York Mills and Perham, as well as completing nutritional assessments for nursing home residents and hospital patients.
To schedule an appointment with Horter, call the Perham Health Clinic at 218.347.1200.
